Who We Are

We are A Step Above Appliance Repair, a family-owned and operated company dedicated to providing quality, trustworthy repairs at an affordable price. Mike began his career in the industry over 25 years ago. In 2014, Mike and Jennifer moved the business to the beautiful town of Lafayette, Indiana and started providing the same high-quality services and expertise to the Lafayette community. Since moving to Lafayette, Mike and Jennifer became involved in several networking groups and business organizations that have allowed them to become more involved in the community and form valuable relationships with countless members. Today, they are a trusted presence in the community of Greater Lafayette, and they look forward to a bright future serving the Greater Lafayette Area.

Our History

We started as a result of a moral checkup. Mike had been working in the field since he was in his 20's. he started as a driver/helper. His interest grew as he learned more about the field, and it was spurred on by his natural mechanical abilities. He began working for a family-owned company, which he loved. The time came for a change in the management structure in that company, and his morals were challenged.

We became interested in the Greater Lafayette area and fell in love with the community here. We decided to move to the area, which granted us the opportunity to begin the company we had dreamed of. We know that we have a special opportunity to serve the community of Greater Lafayette. Our focus is to give the best customer service we can. Customer satisfaction is our #1 goal. If you're not happy, we're not happy.

Owner and Head Technician

Mike is the Owner and Head Technician of A Step Above Appliance Repair. He was born in Illinois and raised in California. He started as a helper and has been in the field for over 30 years. He comes from a military family, and his heart goes out to any and all service men and women. In 2013, Mike relocated to West Lafayette, Indiana and founded A Step Above Appliance Repair soon after.

Mike puts his faith in the forefront of everything he does, and his family is a close second. He has six children, four grandchildren, and two dogs!

Mike shares his son's interest in saltwater fish and spends his free time fishing, playing games and sports, being involved in his church, walking the dogs, bike riding, or spending time with his wonderful wife and family!

Jennifer - Co-Owner & Office Manager

Co-Owner and Office Manager

Jennifer is the Co-owner and Office Manager of A Step Above Appliance Repair. Her parents previously owned a reconditioned appliance store, which led her to continue pursuing a career in the industry. In the past, she's worked as a Dental Office Clerical Staff Member, a position she would hold for nearly a decade. In 2013. she relocated to West Lafayette with her family to establish A Step Above Appliance Repair with her husband (and Owner of the company), Mike.

Jennifer is a mother of 6 children and a grandmother of 4 grandchildren! In her free time, she loves supporting her children, being involved in church, hiking, bike riding, helping her community, and spending time outdoors with her dogs (Marlee and Culter).

Drew - Service Technician

Drew is a Service Technician and has been involved with the company in many different aspects including repair, managing used appliance sales, and marketing.

Drew is happily married to his wife Elizabeth and has 2 children and a dog, He loves spending time outdoors as well as playing board games, spending time with his family, serving at church, and loves sports.

Ashley - Administrative Assistant

Administrative Assistant

Ashley is a part time Admin. Asst. and full time mother of 4. In 2017 Ashley and her family relocated from Oklahoma where she was an office manager for a construction company. She has also spent time as a ministry leader in her church and a volunteer at her children’s schools.

In her free time, Ashley enjoys reading, baking, and exploring the outdoors with her husband of 25 years.
